Tommy Ruff

Purely to compare city with country, I went with the place Time Out said was the best – Tommy Ruff in Prahran, Melbourne.

Fish was perfect. Thick and cooked perfectly, with a thin delicious batter that held together and easily passed the bend test.

Chips were good but not more-ish. I prefer regular salt, and not everyone likes salt with rosemary, so that should have been mentioned. Crinkle-cut was a bit different but I couldn’t help thinking they were oven-baked

3 different wait staff asked how my meal was…

Wait time was 15 minutes at 5:45 on a Sunday. They weren’t particularly busy.

Given the location, the price is fine. Especially because it is a big modern place where eating in is the same price. They just need to work on the chips.
